So you want to Convert your R34 GTT TO GTR
Project Scope: OEM GT-R Exterior Conversion
Objective: To transform a non-GT-R chassis into a factory-spec GT-R widebody using original Nissan/Nismo Heritage components and structural mounting hardware.
Phase 1: Front-End Architecture (The Foundation)
Doing the front end "the Nissan way" requires a complete replacement of the mounting skeleton. Without these brackets, the hood and bumper will never achieve factory panel gaps.
Primary Panels:
OEM Hood: (Aluminum or Carbon) – Requires specific GTR hinges/stay.
Fender Set: Wider GT-R profile.
Front Bumper Fascia: Available in Standard, V-Spec, or Nismo specs.
Lip Kit: Includes Middle Lip and Lower Lip assemblies.
The "Invisible" Essentials (Required Brackets):
Headlight Mounting Suite: Upper and Lower brackets plus the Upper Width Seal.
Reinforcement Bar: The GT-R specific front "crash bar" that dictates bumper fitment.
Structural Supports: Fender Stiffener Riser set and Lower Fender-to-Bumper brackets.
Latch System: Radiator Center Support Bar and a GT-R specific Hood Latch.
The Finishing Level: Brand new OEM GT-R Fender Liners (required to meet the wider fender edge).
Phase 2: The Mid-Section (The Connection)
This phase bridges the aggressive front fenders to the wide rear quarters. Fitment here is purely about finding rare, often discontinued, trim pieces.
OEM Side Skirts: High-value items that dictate the side profile of the car.
GT-R Front Mudguards: These are the small "spats" that complete the transition from the front fender to the side skirt.
Investment Note: Expect to spend $3,000–$4,500 on these items alone before prep and paint.
Phase 3: The Rear Section (The Structural Graft)
This is the most invasive part of the build. It requires permanent modification of the chassis and surgical metalwork.
Rear Quarter Panels: The hardest parts to source (often ~$7k+ per side after international logistics).
The Grafting Process:
Inner Wheel Arch Extensions: These must be fabricated or adapted to meet the new outer skin's width.
Fuel System: A GT-R specific Fuel Filler Cap/Cover is required to sit flush with the wider panel.
Optics: GT-R Taillight Covers/Pockets are mandatory to match the deeper quarter panel curvature.
The Rear Bumper Suite:
Rear Bumper Fascia: Now discontinued; requires hunting or Heritage sourcing.
Specific Brackets: GT-R-only brackets used to secure the bumper to the wider quarter panels.
