The headlight switch in the R32 is notorious for drawing high amperage directly through the connector. Over time, this heat causes the original plastic connector and the surrounding wires to melt, char, or become brittle. This leads to flickering headlights, high beams failing to activate, or the headlights failing to turn on entirely.
Product Features
Application: Fits all Nissan Skyline R32 models (1989–1994).
Function: Replaces the "pigtail" connector that plugs into the back of the headlight switch.
Build Quality: Genuine Nissan (OEM) part, ensuring the correct wire gauge and plastic heat resistance.
Contents: Usually includes the white plastic 8-pin connector housing pre-pinned with color-coded (often yellow) wire leads.
Technical Details
Part Number: 24028-AX006 (Alternative: 24028AX006).
Installation: Requires cutting off the old, damaged connector and splicing these new leads into the existing factory dashboard harness. It is highly recommended to use heat-shrink tubing and high-quality crimps or solder for a secure connection.
Why It’s Necessary
If you notice a "burnt plastic" smell near your steering column or if your headlights only work when you wiggle the switch, this repair harness is the standard fix. Replacing just the switch (the stalk/button) often isn't enough, as the melting usually occurs on the harness side.
Note: For a more permanent fix, many R32 owners install this repair harness in conjunction with a "Headlight Relay Kit" to take the high-amperage load off the switch entirely.
