DOT 3 brake fluid is a glycol-based hydraulic fluid that meets Department of Transportation standards. It has a minimum dry boiling point of 205°C (401°F) and a minimum wet boiling point of 140°C (284°F). DOT 3 fluid is suitable for use in older vehicles and those requiring lower boiling point specifications. It's less expensive than DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 fluids but may not provide the same level of high-temperature protection. Always check your vehicle's manufacturer recommendations before using DOT 3 brake fluid.
