Nissan R34 Skyline: A Quick Overview
The R34-generation Nissan Skyline was introduced in 1998, with the R34 GT-R following in 1999. The range includes coupe and sedan models, naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines, and different drivetrain configurations. An R34 Skyline is not automatically a GT-R, and the differences matter when choosing replacement parts.
GT, GT-T, and GT-R: Know the Difference
- HR34: Associated with the 2.0-liter RB20DE-powered Skyline models.
- ER34: Associated with 2.5-liter RB25-powered models, including naturally aspirated versions and the turbocharged RB25DET NEO GT-T. The GT-T is rear-wheel drive and was offered as a coupe or sedan.
- ENR34: Associated with naturally aspirated 2.5-liter, four-wheel-drive Skyline models.
- BNR34: The R34 Skyline GT-R, with the twin-turbocharged 2.6-liter RB26DETT, ATTESA E-TS all-wheel-drive system, and six-speed manual transmission.
These are starting points for identification, not a complete fitment chart. Confirm your car's full model information and its current mechanical configuration, particularly if the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, or bodywork have been changed.

Know Your Skyline Before You Order
Start with your car’s chassis code, engine, body style, transmission, and any modifications. An R34 model reference alone is not a fitment guarantee, and GT-R and non-GT-R applications should not be treated as interchangeable.
Check the Details That Matter
- Chassis and model: Match the application stated in the product listing to your car.
- Engine and drivetrain: Confirm the engine and relevant drivetrain specifications, especially on swapped or modified cars.
- Body style and production details: Check whether the part is specific to a coupe, sedan, production period, or trim.
- Part number: Compare the listed part number with the part you are replacing whenever possible.
- What is included: Review whether the listing is for one piece, a pair, or a kit, and whether additional hardware is required.
Tools & Literature: R34 Factory Service Manual
A factory service manual is an important reference for workshop procedures, wiring diagrams, diagnostic checks, tightening sequences, and torque specifications. Use the manual section and any supplements that apply to your exact engine, chassis, transmission, and production period.
